Rachmaninoff--Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18.

I found the second and third movements to be particularly elegiac and passionate.

Mat, if I"m not mistaken, it sounds like some of those themes/motifs were later used in some popular songs sung by Eric Carmen in the 1970's?

Brahms--Symphony no.1 in C minor, op.68

Colin, as you insist, I shall of course include in future these addenda to any classical music I might listen to and share with my fellow members.

Today I listened to Brahms--Symphony no.1 in C minor, op.68, performed by the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Herbert von Karajan.
It was recorded in 1987 and is on Deutsche Grammophon.
I found the 4th movement to be especially beautiful and lush.
p.s. If I left out any 411 that you think is relevant, Colin, please don't hesitate to let me know--or even better--add it in yourself.
