Well at least you started in the right place. The first Mahler sym I heard was his 9th it put me off for years
aha Schumann much better than "whats his name oh yeh Brahms"If I had to choose one of Mahler's symphonies, I'd go with the 1st.
Currently listening to Schumann's Eb major symphony, as played by Cleveland Orchestra with G. Szell.
Giving Mahler a rest ehBrahms Symphony No.1 in C Minor, performed by the Berliner Philarmoniker conducted by Herbert Von Karajan. I found the last movement of this work to be especially stirring and powerful.
He is not the easiest composer to get to grips with some people never do
