buck clayton and his allstars--songs for swingers-columbia (lp)great swinging mainstream jazz.

john coltrane quartet--first meditations for quartet-impulse (cd) coltrane getting a little way out here, but still very enjoyable.

miles davis--kind of blue-columbia (cd). many jazz fans consider this the best jazz album of all time,they are probably right. gord:cool:

Enjoyed Bill Evans with Kai and JJ the other day so looked him up on spotify including some tracks with Tony Bennet ,Mingus and Stan Getz, probably my favourite pairing

That's a great song gord; even though I can't access it now because my computer's audio system is down, I am quite familiar with this classic by Monk. And his performing it with Blakey and the Messengers is even more of a bonus. Nice find!

hi steve, you are right blakey and monk is a great album. on you tube tap in giants of jazz, there is a great band, monk with diz,kai, stitt, blakey etc. gord:cool:
