I'm sorry but I keep getting this 70's stuff. Claude Debussy's music
doesn't sound like 70's stuff. His music is usually played on the
piano or by orchestra. But, welcome to the forum anyway.

S. Prokofiev - Symphony No.1

J. Brahms - Violin concert in in D major
L. van Beethoven - Piano concert in E flat major
I attended the world premiere of a clarinet concerto by the young turkish contemporary composer Deniz Sever. It was like a primat Shostakovich composing. He uses very similar orchestration with Shostakovich violin concerto especially but nowhere near him of course in other aspects.
Other works included in the programme was Tchaikovsky's Variaitions on a Rococo Theme and Brahms' 3rd Symphony.Young croatian Monika Leskovar was soloist in Tchaikovsky.Superb technique and expressivity i think we'll hear more of this young lady in the future. All the works was performed by Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alexander Rahbari - a conductor some of you may be familiar with through his recordings of main symphonic and operatic repertoire for the label Naxos.-.I would say he is one of the most exciting conductors at work today. Not only his interpretations are delicious,he extracts a wonderful sound from our local orchestra which is usually awful, even under the direction of renowned conductors like Fedor Gluschenko,Jurgen Hempel and Michel Tabachnik.I hope they appoint him as a principal conductor or music director or something like that but still to have him here 8 weeks a season is a blessing.
Rachmaninoff's Musical Moments - its soo beautiful, i could not get enough of it. so much depth, so much feelings.... makes your heart want to jump out!

F. Chopin - Piano concert in e minor
S. Prokofiev - Symphony No.1 in D major
I have just discovered them, because I never actually listened to the entire thing, I only listened to the beginning, so the entire time I was missing out on that 4th movement, which is sooo great. I really cant get enough of it now.
The substantial Russian community where I live are basically in agreement that Rachmaninoff represented the true soul of Russians just before the Revolution. Sergei Rachmaninoff's great grand nephew Nicholas Rachmaninoff used to live here up until a few years ago. He had apparently met and married a Japanese woman here and they then departed for Michigan.
Of course, Rachmaninoff had much encouragement from Tchaikovsky to cultivate his ability to write such searingly recognizable melodies, especially like "Vocalise". Man, what if I had never discovered Rachmaninoff? Such an empty place it would have been.......
