Rachmaninoff's "Symphonic Dances" conducted by Andre Previn.
That is a very good rendition of a very good piece.

I listened to all 6 cello suites of Johann Sebastian Bach played by Mstislav Rostropovich, then turned to Mariss Jansons and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra for a performance of Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra. Now listening to Beethoven's 4th piano concerto performed by Alexis Weissenberg,Herbert von Karajan and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.Later in the evening i will listen to another piano concerto of Beethovens, fifth this time with Anton Rubinstein as soloist with London Philharmonic Orchestra conduıcted by Daniel Barenboim.

Hello Kromme,

I have Andre Previn conducting and Ashkenazy playing the three piano concertos by Rachmaninoff, the Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini, and the Symphonies conducted by Previn. I feel that he did a really good job with those.

Cheers,

Hi CD,

Previn is one of the names that comes to my mind when Rachmaninov's orchestral works are mentioned alongside with Jansons and Temirkanov. He is not one of my favorite conductors usually because i find his usual approach a little laid-back but when he unleashes himself like he does in Rachmaninov's orchestral works or Shostakovicn 8th,he produces wonderful results.

Cheers

Hello Sir Atabey,

Oh yes, I do also find some of his style a little laid-back. I only have him doing the Rachmaninoff Orchestral works just because of that.

Cheers,

Also unlike many conductors who spent the whole Radetzky Marsch conducting the audience Kleiber did not even turn to them.He just shook his hand and the look on his face meanwhile was probably saying:"You idiots don't clap now?You were clapping in the rather silent phases to make us inaudible and you don't clap now,in the march phase?Clap!!Now!!!" :D:D
