The MET 3-CD version of Verdi's Aïda, Aprile Millo in the title role, Placido Domingo as Radames, James Levine conducting.

I thought it would be good to refamiliarize myself with this work, in advance of this Saturday's Met-in-HD theatrecast--
but it looks like we'll be working overtime on Saturday...:(

@ Mat, That Schumann No.4 is amongst my favorite works of either him or any composer. By whom were it and the Tchaikovsky performed and conducted?

Hey, Steve. Schumann's 4th is definitely one of my favorite (symphonic) works, as well! I'm sure you've seen the video clip on youtube where Karajan rehearses it with Wiener Philharmoniker?

The Tchaikovsky was performed by Bernard Haitink/Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Schumann by Georg Szell/Cleveland SO.

Hi, Mat. No, I haven't seen that particular HVK clip, but I did see the one in which he is rehearsing the wonderful second movement of Beethoven's Symphony No.7 with the Berliner Philharmoniker, and it was very touching. Partly as a result of having viewed and listened to that clip, I decided to but his complete Beethoven Cycle made with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Mat, I viewed the HVK rehearsal clip tonight and indeed found it very interesting;I had never heard the sound of his voice before. I'm going to see if there are other parts to this same rehearsal--and, if there are--I'll post the links for you. Thanks again!

I'm happy to let you know that it is available in its entirety and I even made a thread about it here. Moreover, while I was re-watching it a few days ago, I came across the same clip but in one file. It has an interesting bonus - a concert performance of the symphony. Here's the link; it starts @ 1:01:40.
