I had to look that one up Steve, I don't like peanut butter so it would not be for me.

You're right, Margaret, I forgot that it contained peanut butter as well, it being so long ago that my mother bought it for me. I'm amazed that it would be listed anywhere these days; where were you able to find an entry for this?

When it came to coconut candy, I liked Mounds or Almond joy.
Tootsie rolls are out of the question for me.

How about Necco wafers~Yummy!
Anyone remember those? They came in a roll ,similar to how coins are rolled. Each piece was about the size of a quarter and was basically a flat piece of sugar. Different colors with some other flavoring added. Hmmmmmmm!
Squirrel Nuts and Mary Janes (the legal kind) :)

Yeah, Hawk, I remember both the Necco wafers and the Mary Janes [both kinds--oops!]. Do you remember something called "Sky Bar"--I believe also made by Necco--which was a candy bar having different fillings such as marshmallow, caramel etc. within each segmented chocolate square, so that essentially each bite produced a different flavor? Ah, those were the days. Probably Necco is out of business and these classics aren't even produced any more. Oh well. :bawl: p.s. I don't recall ever having tasted nor even seen Squirrel Nuts in the New York area when I was a kid. What were/are they?

Loved Sky Bars Steve! I am surprised you have not seen or tasted Squirrel Nuts (I'll leave the joke alone)...They are a kind of hard caramel with nuts. They came wrapped like Mary Janes.

A little trivia question:

Did you know Necco is an acronym? Do you know what it stands for?

Hawk, I did not know that Necco is in fact an acronym, and have no clue what it might signify. I'm glad you remember Sky Bars, they bring back a lot of good memories for me. Thanks for sparing me the Squirrel Nut jokes!

A few years ago there was a chocolate bar advertised with the ditty -What has a hazel nut in every bite. Of course, the popular answer was squirrel poo.

I just had some Life Saver Gummies. I don't get to many of
those. As for Neccos, I can find them here. They are little
disc the size of a nickle and taste so nice. Homemade candies
are my absolute favorites.
