But, I'll be back in a month to do some more searching. I can't stay
away that long. I love it here. It's so peaceful. Everywhere I look
I see orchids growing from a tree,animals I don't normaly see at home
unless they're pets. Here they are free in the wild along with parrots
and other birds, pretty spiders that are big as my hand that are gentle
when you pick them up. They have enough venom to kill you but won't
bite because their fangs were not designed to attack but for eating.

The dance was beautiful.

I thoroughly enjoyed the dancing. When I went to bed that night, I thought of all I had seen in one day. One bracelet I saw was absolutely beautiful. I wished I could take it with me to give to my sister Judy for her birthday.

Next morning came with the thunderous sound of rain. I worried that we would not be able to dig that day, but, luckily it soon stopped, and the work began again.

Pretty soon the pyramid was uncovered and what a beautiful sight. So I
told them there were more here I could feel the presence of one here that
we needed to look to find another. There are more out there. So we
came upon another place that looked like a hill with stairs on it.

Of course, we had our work cut out for us. We needed to summon more men from the village to help. Apparently, we had stumbled upon an entire Mayan city waiting to be rediscovered.

The group's leader radioed to the village and requested more helpers to come and assist in any way possible. "You really have discovered the city of Choco? Yes, we will send many men tomorrow."

Our anticipation grew as we worked late into the night.

"Wow! Look at this jewel box. We found one with the first pyramid.
Here is another one,"said Choc. This box looked just like the last one
but this one was solid gold that opened. When it was opened, there
was another crystal skull inside. The guys lined the two skulls up and
sit them on a table and they lit up with a glow.

The skulls glowed with an eerie light and the table started to vibrate. All of the sudden, there was a bright flash of light which exploded outward. We all closed our eyes to the sudden assault, but when we opened them we couldn't believe what was before us.

It was as if the skulls were producing a movie image or a hologram onto the jungle canopy. We were thrust back in time, to the very days of Choco. We could hear drums and chanting as some sort of procession made its way up the steps of the pyramid. At the very top, priests had assembled around Choco and laid offerings around him. He seemed very pleased. Then one of the priests took some kind of "paint" from a clay vessel and made markings on Choco's face.

This was the day Choco had been elevated to ruler. We couldn't believe it as we stared in awe!

This was unbelievable, but how could it be. At first I thought it was a dream, and that I would wake up. I pinched myself, this was real.

All the men were on their knees, staring in awe at what was before them. Choco was a legend, the most revered king the Mayans had ever had. And here he appeared before them.

Suddenly Choco looked up, he seemed to be staring straight at me. "You," a voice boomed out. "I have something to tell you."

Choc the guy standing next to me looked at the other guy and said,
"Do any of you know Mayan? I do well to talk my own spanish amigos
and some engles. This figure wants me for something." His buddy
next to him said,"Choc I can't believe that our people have changed
so much within 300 years. We are his tribe years later amigo. I do
know a little Mayan." Choc looked and said can you translate between
me and the ancient king?" Joe answered,"Sure! I will try." He greeted
the king and they talked back and forth. King Choc told them what was
to happen and Choc asked why such a change in culture. That this area
is now the land of Mexico.

The next day they went all the way to Guatemala and behold another
pyramid tall as a 110 story skyscraper. He couldn't believe his eyes
at the sight. "Wow!" I said with a gasp and more howling monkeys
loud enough to deafen you.

"Wow what a structure!",said Choc. This structure was so tall that it
towered over the forest and what was under the forest needed to be
uncovered. I told them,"Let's uncover this big treasure and see if we
can't climb this thing. Well after the enough was uncovered this big
structure was like climbing a mountain. By the time we got to the
level where the door was I was too tired to go any further. The air
was also getting thin.

When we went inside we saw a big wheel with glyphs on it and a face in
the middle. The thing was so heavy none of us could lift it so one of
the guys took a sketch pad and drew a picture of what it looked like.
Right off the bat Choc figured it out from the drawing. "Senior! This
is a Calender like the Aztec has.", he said.

It was stunning in its beauty and intricacy. As the group looked around the room, they noticed a passage leading off down into the pyramid.

Where did that passage go to? There was only one way to find out, take a look. It was dark and felt cold, but we had torches and nothing was going to stop us. The passage seemed to go on for ever. Then suddenly, in front of us we saw some light, and the passage led us into a large chamber. All around the chamber walls were writings and drawings, depicting years of civilization.

Then soon we found the tomb where an important king chief laid with
a mask covering his face. Choc considered the body belonging to
King Pikal the biggest chief in Mayan history. The face on the mask
was probably what he looked like.

We thought there might be other tombs as well. It had been a very productive day, and I hated to leave. But, it was getting dark and we had to get back to the camp. Choc had lined up a surprise for me, and I was eager to find out what it was.

This was the best show ever in Indian dancing. The guy with the blue
on was Choc and he played with fire. Izamal shook the rattle like a
little kid. After the dance was over we had dinner.

On the next day we went into a village to look around and found ladies
weaving some of the most beautiful blankets in all colors. Soon we
found a place to eat breakfast. Tortillas for breakfast?
