The beautiful enchanting rainforest

You didn't destroy any Mayans. The people don't live here anymore.
The tribe scattered and formed towns and villages years before
Columbus even arrived. The place is empty. What you blew up
was one of their ancient ruins. By the looks of it a fortress for an
indian chief. I can tell by looking at you. You are one of them by
looking at the art work by one of your ancestors. Not everyone
who lives in Mexico is a typical Chicano. You're Mayan. My wife
said that you guys were short and cute. She was right on one thing
you guys are short. The ones who live north of Mexico City are
tall and slender. That does make a difference.

Judy, I would never really endeavor to blow up anything, except maybe a balloon. I told you I am a little "warped" and it seems that you are always mentioning the Mayans. Of course I know that they are an extinct population...it was, to coin a phrase, tongue in cheek. I shouldn't have trampled on your story, I know you have a passion about Mexican history.

Also, I am extremely interested in archeology and all things ancient and would never want to destroy a site of potential historical importance. In fact, I have some ancient Greek and Roman coins. I wear an Alexander the Great coin on a chain that I got in Greece and it is a few thousand years old. I also have an ancient ashubte (sp?) mummy statue that was actually wrapped in the linens of someone's mummy.

I also have some several hundred year old iron statues from the Holy Land.

Currently, I am working on a novel about an archeological dream that I have had several times over since I was much younger. It takes place in Egypt (my passion) and is sort of like "The Mummy" with quite an interesting twist...history will be rewritten!

That's all right Cyber. It fit right into the story like a glove. There is
one Mayan city the size of my hometown that is still thriving. You
will see it in the picture. There is a Mayan ruin in the center of a large
modernized town called Izamal, Mexico. Back to the story.

Just as the guy came out with the feathers and indian cloths he got
wolf whistles and also indian calls. He said," Cua'l es la materia?"
Which means,"What is the matter?" One of the other crew members
said,"Pareces bueno en rojo." Which means,"You look good in red!"
They laughed some more.

Well, he said red is lucky for me, because many years ago I was hunting for treasure. We searched all day and nothing, then the sky became a vivid red and someone shouted "look what I have found." In his hand was the most precious looking ruby you have ever seen. It shone brightly, and as it sparkled it looked like as if there was a face staring back at me. A face so beautiful it took my breath away.

A ring that goes with me everywhere.

I am sure that there are more rubies and jewels where this was found.

I can show you if you like, we could be very rich.

So off they went, following the man with the ruby ring.

I showed where some more sites were located in the jungle. We had to
keep looking. As i walked in the forest we came upon what looked like a
typical hill but looking closer this hill had steps on it. With excitement I
yelled. "Come here! Look at what I found! Bring some shovels!"

They had found what appeared to be a mustaba, or ancient burial ground. With breathless anticipation the group assembled around and at once they all set about removing the earth very carefully.

They dug for hours until they started to find pottery shards and pieces of textiles.

"I found something. Quick, come look."

With excitement the group gathered around and gasped in awe as the leader of the expedition carefully exposed a stone box in the ground. He expertly pried it loose from its resting spot. How long had this been there, undisturbed?

A hush fell over the crowd as the box was lifted out of its hiding place and it was set upon a table that had been set up. Pictures were taken as the whole event unfolded. Slowly, the lid was lifted from the box.

Then, a collective gasp arose from the crowd when they peered inside...

Inside were more jewels and a crystal skull wrapped in a corn shuck like a tamale next to a human heart that was petrified. I looked where they were
digging and saw where they uncovered some of the structure made of
limestone. "Guys we need to dig some more and uncover this pyramid.
What I see is beautiful so far."

The men carried on digging, all eager to see what they would uncover next.

I knew that we were close to the pyramid, I could sense it. Just as I was about to look at the crystal skull, a weird sound came. It seemed to be in the distance, it sounded like a howling wolf.

The problem was there were no wolfs around in this tropical forest. They
did say there were howling monkeys around. That's what I hear. Soon
one of the guys found another treasure. A crown decorated with feathers.

The feathers were very pretty peacock ones, a lovely blue colour. I wondered who the crown had belonged to. This led me to belive that this was no ordinary place. It had belonged to royalty, I all the more wanted to find out the history of the place.

Suddenly one of the men shouted, "look what I have found."

A statue of a Mayan reclining like someone doing pushups with his
elbows holding him up. It turned out to be an idol or something.

P.S. Margaret a aqua is their color. How did you know?

Hi Judy if you are talking about the peacock feathers, I have seen them, a lovely blue(aqua colour.)

The statue of the Mayan, was very interesting. As I held it up, some of the men dropped to their knees, in some kind of worship.

The Idol was of an ancient Mayan king, adored by the people. I watched as they paid homage, it was a humbling sight. After a few minutes they stood up, and were eager to find more treasure.

My helper said,"This is the real Choc Mool Who I was named after."
"You don't say." The guys really started to dig. Behold another
treasure they found. A gold bracelet with gemstones on it.

The gold bracelet was really wonderful. It made me realise that this truly was a beautiful enchanting rainforest.

But my time was limited, I had to be moving on in a few days. So I needed to complete my task. This meant digging late into the night, however tired we were.

But I knew it was worth it.
