At the moment, I'm writing a review of a cookery book and listening to The Three Tenors Christmas, which I picked up on CD for £4 at lunchtime.

And very pleasant it is too.

Hoyry-Kone - Hyonteisia Voi Rakastaa

My favorite album title. Translates to "One Might Love Insects" or "It is Possible to Love Insects."

Some yahoo tuning up the church pipe organ and it's giving me
a headache.:( I hope they are through soon. I thought they
would use a computer to tune the organ since it runs on a
computerized circut. Pianos are different. If you tune one of
them you can use a gizmo that picks out different strings and
take a tuner and tune it. Simple!:) Still you can drive someone
crazy while doing it.

Hi Judy,

Proper tuning of a piano takes much more than using an electronic tuner. If one were to tune every string on the piano to exact pitch, it would sound horrible. A good piano technician/tuner will impart subtle characteristics to the tuning of every piano string, ergo, a couple of cents - plus/minus off in the tuning. A real pipe organ is tuned the old-fashioned way - the only way - by ear.

Cheers,

Corno Dolce

Corno, I would tune a piano the old fashened way by ear. All you need
is the perfect pitch in your ear.
