Last night it was John Coltrane's landmark bebop composition, 'Giant Steps.' Lots of positive energy in this harmonically complex tune.

Then today it was a simple, feel-good R&B song; 'Just Fine' by Mary J. Blige-

What a fun song!

Now, it's my favourite funk song; 'Play That Funky Music' by Wild Cherry-

Right now on this thanksgiving day, I'm listening to jazz! I don't know

Hi Ms. RoJo,

Didst thou not jest about *Wild Cherry* in having the best bass line ever in 'Play That Funky Music'???

Go to Ron Carter's site - choose the album *The Golden Striker* and the track called *Cedar Tree* - Now that's a bass line.

Here's Ron Carter's website:

Cheers,

Hiya CD,

You'll notice I said 'possibly.' Although I should have said what I really meant, which is that it's the funkiest bass line. Of course, there are indeed many great bass lines that I enjoy in other songs as well.

Thanks for sharing the Ron Carter song; I enjoyed it. But I still prefer the bass line from the Wild Cherry tune. :)
