What classical music did you listen to today?

I've been having a semi-fixation on the music from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake lately.

Swan Lake, in addition to being a 'childhood friend' of mine among Classical Music compositions, is also (imho) the best ballet music ever written. [I also think it's the best thing Tchaikovsky ever wrote.]

Work of that kind of quality has much to do with why I consider Tchaikovsky one of the half-dozen greatest Classical Music composers of all time. And... (if you think I'm being over-generous) my wife Hot_townPhilly thinks I have Tchaikovsky rated too low!

That's a tough one. I do like the work very much, especially the thematic unification. And to answer your question, I'd say 3rd or 4th place.

You asked for it, Colin.

Brahms 4
Schumann 4
Prokofiev 1
Dvorak 9

I'm leaving the last spot open on purpose. There's so many symphonies I've not heard yet...

And what's yours?

Corno Dolce

Gorecki has written his share of dissonant music but his 3rd won me over to him as one of the greats of the 20th Century.

Today was "Wohltemperiertes Klavier"..
