Puccini: Madama Butterfly - performed at the Arena di Verona features Raina Kabaivanska as Madama Butterfly, Nazzareno Antinori as Pinkerton. I think one of the most beautiful set designs for this opera ever done taht I have seen either on film or in person. A DVD done from live performance by NVC arts in 1983.. blockbusters has it.

Interesting piece of music, some guy, and quite enjyable. For an opera, it doesn't include a lot of singing, and when it does, the voices make onomatapoeic noises more often than not.

Montefalco - isn't Messiaen's St. Francis amazing. I think there is only one recording of this amazingly vast work, I love it. But Messiaen can't do any wrong in my book. His music is just sooooo unique.

Yeah, Messiaen was a great and unique composer. Last year I got the complete box set of his works, and it has been a favourite of mine since.

I think the Quartet for the End of Time is well-justified in one of Messiaen's most famous pieces. Absolutely beautiful piece.

I listened to part of Schnittke's 3rd piano sonata on YouTube.
