Franz Schubert - Symphony No. 9 in C major, D. 944, "Great"

which version of the Schubert Great was it Mat? I heard the 1970s BPO karajan recording earlier this week, I was very pleasantly surprised. Of course, typical of that autocratic psycho Karajan, it was self indulgent.

Actually, David, it was a random recording I chose from Naxos library earlier today: Budapest Failoni Chamber Orchestra conducted by Michael Halasz.

Quite enjoyable.

Bach's Toccata and fugue for organ arranged for full orchestra on BBC proms. Watching all the different instruments playing the really tricky passages was fascinating. Elderflower

My most recent listens have been Robert Simpson Symphony No. 8, and Schubert Symphonies 1 & 4 from a collection I just acquired of the complete symphonies played by the "Orchestra of the 18th Century" conducted by Frans Bruggen.
