Michael Tippett--Symphony No. 2
I've been rolling around all four symphonies for the past couple of weeks--they're all very difficult for me, but his sound and style are finally sinking into my psyche and I'm picking out some order amongst the chaos. Don't have many thoughts specifically yet, aside from I think his orchestration and ideas are rather unique and refreshing, but not surprising that it seems he's not played often due to how long it's taking me to come to like the works. Plus the symphonies all sound like each instrument has it's own concerto--extremely difficult parts.
