I sense a not-unwelcome pattern here. I haven't yet figured out the Bruckner symphonies with mysterious number - 0 and 00 - any advice?

A *quick and dirty* answer to your query: Bruckner's 00th symphony was a *study symphony*, ergo, he was *experimenting* with the symphonic form especially after his long *apprenticeship* with his composition teacher. Bruckner's zeroth(O)symphony was never assigned an opus number and became known as *Die Nullte*.
