Hi, Colin; Sorry I took so long to respond, as I have been busy with my wife and father. Lilburn does remind me--at times--melodically of Sibelius. How about you?
That's very interesting Colin; I'll give him another listen or two with that in mind. Thanks.Douglas Lilburn studied at the RCM London and was tutored by R Vaughan Williams they were the best of mates and kept in touch when Lilburn returned to NZ and you can hear RVW in most of Lilburn's music.
