Totally useless facts ...

Don't worry Contra. I would rather have my salty stuff and raise
my blood pressure instead of waking up my pancreas.

Judy honey - salt is a killer, please don't over do it. We all need to eat a healthy diet I think and I'm trying not to preach to you here as I'm no culinary angel by any stretch of the imagination.

Currently our Federal Government has a five vegetable and two pieces of fruit campaign on T.V. which is moderately annoying as it's so generic, but I guess their basic principle is sound.

Judy - here's some chocolate triva for you ... enjoy

A recent study indicates when men crave food, they tend to crave fat and salt. When women crave food, they tend to desire chocolate.

American and Russian space flights have always included chocolate.

American chocolate manufacturers use about 1.5 billion pounds of milk -- only surpassed by the cheese and ice cream industries.

Americans consumed over 3.1 billion pounds of chocolate in 2001, which is almost half of the total world's production.

Aztec emperor Montezuma drank 50 golden goblets of hot chocolate every day. It was thick, dyed red and flavored with chili peppers.

Bittersweet chocolate is what is usually called for in baking. It contains more chocolate liquor (at least 35%) and less sugar than sweet chocolate. Semisweet chocolate contains 15% - 35% chocolate liquor.

In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.

And another one to tickle Miss Judy's bent for things native american ...

"Kemo Sabe" means "soggy shrub" in Navajo.

Thats cool stuff about chocolate, CT ;)

P.S. I think what was meant in Margaret's post about spelling out numbers, is that if you were to literally spell them out, the first number in which letter A would appear is 1000. (basic numbers dont have "a"s, neither does the word "hundred," so all the composites below 1000 would not contain an A.

Due to our latest discussion in the unusual foods thread concerning bird droppings, here is a little fact:
rabbits eat their droppings on a regular basis as a source of nutrients. Thats a pretty cool way to recycle the food...although I wouldnt try it :D

And since I've started with the bunnies already: it is physiologically impossible for them to throw up food

Here is another chocolate fact. The word cacao is where we get the
word cocoa from. The Mayan god Choc Mool is where we get the
word chocolate from and chocolate is like Viagra for us girls. It is to
make us feel loved.

Damn all the feeble brains!!! ;) ;) ;) Thats what my brain is like right now.
You know that wonderful state of mind where you are looking at something, like in my case a sudoku puzzle, and start wondering - what the heck is that, who came up with it, and most importantly, why am I doing it??? And then you start going on about how rabbits eat their droppings... its great, really!

If you take tortilla shells cut them in strips the size of fritos and
deep fry them yourself with just a pinch of salt they taste much
better then if you bought a bag of Doritos. Because you don't
know how long that bag of chips were on the shelf. I heard of
someone taking some doritos back because they were molded.
Imagine that!

Corno, its soo much fun ;). Its not that hard, unless of course you attempt a diabolical sudoku, in which case you have to guess a lot. I usually have a little booklet of easy sudoku puzzles for transportation and airports. I used to do those in 5 minutes, but it takes me a little longer now ;( My mom is a pro though. She can even create sudoku puzzles.

Here is a good site if you are interested, you can pick different levels of difficulty, and you can check if you doing it correctly as you go:

Dear Muza,

Thanx for the web-url - I really appreciate it. Ya know, I learned to play Mahjongg before attempting Chess - and I still have problems with Chess.

Cheers,

I've never played Mahjong, I should probably learn. I used to play chess when I was a kid, but I dont remember how to play anymore. My cousin, lives in GErmany now, was one of the best chess players in Uzbekistan, and won a few prizes in Germany as well.
