The beautiful enchanting rainforest

The cave was beautiful but we found someone making a skull so that
this one can be dated 1978. This is the year that this new one was
created and it looked liked clear glass when he got through.

It was made well but it was not as beautiful as the old ones. The man making them said they were for the tourists. "They will buy anything he said, I tell them the story of the crystal cave and they belive these are real."

"But little do they know this is real crystal not glass. But this crystal
happens to have flaws in it." I looked and saw no flaws and the skull
seemed to look right at me at any point which was kind of spooky.
It also seemed to try to communicate with me and I just loved the
beautiful shine when the sun shined on it like a fire. It was so beautiful
and recently carved to look like the ancient ones. The seller looked at
my amusement and said," Why don't you take that one home? I notice
how the skull is looking at you." About that time I felt something bite
my toe. I looked down and it was a big hermit crab in a rather large
conk shell. I picked up the creature and it jumped back in it's shell.
Now I have a pet from Mexico that's mine. Now try explaining that to
the authorities!:whistle::rolleyes:

Taking a hermit crab home was going to be difficult, but I felt that it was a sign. I gave it to Choc to look after, because I still had work to do.

I had the guys to build me a glass box so I would have a place for the
hermit crab. I even found it a prettier shell to wear and that night
I heard a thud against the glass. I thought for a minute the creature
was eating it's banana I fixed him and soft tortilla shell. I woke up the
next morning to see it changed shells like I would change from my old
cloths into a suit.

So I decided to go back and purchase that skull after all. Perhaps it was a sign. I hoped it was a good one and not an omen; my only intention was to connect with the past. (An adventure along the way was not to be ruled out)

Back I went to purchase the skull, which I managed to do. But as soon as I held it in my hand I felt a strange sensation. There was a certain chill in the air, and everone I passed looked at me as if they had seen a ghost.

Choc looked at me with a strange smile and said,"Senor Leggett! That
amigos just gave you the ancient one because both were sitting side
by side. This is the one that should always give you good luck."

Now Senor Leggett had his sign from the universe. He must have been meant to have that skull. Heck, he couldn't have asked for better fortune than an ancient skull that all but guaranteed him good luck.

"I think I will go to the casino straight away."

Choc looked at me and told that he and his friends found another site
so we went to check it out. Sure enough there were more uncovered
pyramids and ruins to dig out and look for artifacts taking my skull with
me in a very new wooden box lined with foam rubber under red velvet
which gave it a beautiful glimmer.

I secured the box in my backpack so I would not lose my precious cargo. All of this exploring was so exciting. My luck was already changing...I could "feel it in my bones." So I decided to head off into an area by myself and let nature guide me.

I swear, it felt as if I was being tugged in one particular direction under the canopy of trees. Then in the distance, I could barely make out something glinting now and then as the sunlight filtered through the trees. I approached cautiously. Even though the vegetation had overtaken it, there was a serpent carved into a magnificent pillar. It was all but covered by the vines encircling it. In it's eyes were some sort of gem-like stones that looked like rubies. I took video of the surrounding area, panning to and fro.

It was then that I noticed a slight bump in the ground. I used my machete to clear a pathway to this bump. Large red ants started to bite my exposed legs so I pulled a pair of long pants out of my backpack and put them on. I was on a quest now; I just 'knew' it.

Sure enough, upon reaching the very spot I noticed odd implements sticking out of the ground. I took out my tools and began to excavate. After a time my digging gave way to a small opening. As I continued to dig the opening gave way to a larger tunnel.

But since the tunnel was full of water and was very hot, I desided to just
uncover one of the pyramids and low and behold there was a jeweled
throne. I went and looked at it and Choc cleaned it off and sat in it.

Meanwhile, the rest of us stayed very busy with our exploration.

Leggett let the others climb because he didn't like heights. Instead I kept
looking for pieces of pottery, glass, jewels and more. Then I found an
arrow head left behind.

The rest of us ascended the pyramid's surface trying to locate a way in. On the way up the side we noticed the remnants of painted symbols. This must have been stunning when it was first completed. Luckily, we had helmet cams on and were able to memorialize all of this.

The painted symbols were intriguing, I wondered what they all meant. It was Maya Hieroglyphic Writing. http://www.famsi.org/mayawriting/

I knew I would need a Mayan expert to translate for me. Just then I saw something very interesting, it looked like a knob sticking out. I moved up for a closer look, someone suggested I should try turning it.

My wife walked up and read the painting and told me what it meant and
told me not to touch the knob that it would poison me. The red on the
doorknob was mercury. I looked elsewhere and found a golden box full
of turquoise, rubies, emeralds, and quartz crystals made into diamond cuts.

He went back home and taught his history class until december when
it was cold and during Christmas time. Then I headed back to Belize to
do more research with Choc and friends there. While on my way I stopped
in Cancun to visit the sight where the famous pyramid in Chichen Itza.
This thing had 365 steps to it and was used by Mayans as a calender.
It was beautiful.

a neil young tune was played somewhere near. clouds gathered to form a giant ceiling, with no boundaries, no visible lines, no end.

rain started falling gently, as if it was the blood of all the souls offered in sacrifice since the first one.

it felt good, much more than i could have figured. the ground turned crimson.

What was red in the rain was ash from a far away volcano. I also had
my good luck crystal skull with me to use at Tikal when I got there.
Soon the red ash went away and the rain stopped as I looked at the
big pyramid so beautifully white from the sun's heat.
