How's Your Weather?

Glad to hear that you escaped the worst of it Steve. Judging by the pictures we saw you took a real battering. Knowing what the New Yorkers are like you will all be moving Heaven and Earth to get back to normal.

Over here, cold wet and overcast at 47f. Not really a lot to complain about when you think of it.

Glad you survived the storm Steve. Thought about you. My brother lives in New Jersey and he escaped the flooding although he was without power for a few days.

@Steve I admit that I checked your latest posts and saw that you posted after the storm was over, so I knew you were okay, thank goodness. My heart goes out to those who (last I heard,) are still having a very tough time, in New Jersey and on Staten Island for example. I wish them much strength and courage, and that they all receive the help they need.

@ Rojo, Stu and Teddy, Thank you all so much for your concern. My part of Queens really lucked out this time, especially when one looks at the devastated Rockaways {where I used to work} and Staten Island. The problem I'm facing now is that my 90 year old father is alone in a big house with no power--still--and refuses to leave it to come stay with either myself or my 2 sisters. Also, it is very problematic right now as to when many of my fellow New Yorkers and myself may be able to gas up our cars again. Other than that, things are moving along ubtil the next predicted storm on Wednesday!!! :nut:

Cold and raining quite hard at 47f., Bit of sun just breaking through now. We started the year with threats of a drought and a hosepipe ban. Now we have floods.

Sunny most of the day, but with very chilly conditions and temps in the low fifties. They are dropping like a stone as evening approaches, and my father is still without any electric or heat. At 1600hrs his house felt as cold as a tomb, so we sat outdoors on the patio, where it was actually warmer than inside. Now Con Ed is talking about getting his part of Queens and the other afflicted areas back on the grid by November 9th or 10th!

^ Oh dear, that doesn't sound too good.

Hang in there, Steve. Sure hope this will be resolved soon..

It's colder now here in Mtl. too, but then it's not a big deal when one has power & heat..

@ Rojo, Thanks so much for your kind and generous words. I have again--as did my sister--offer to have him stay with one of us until his power gets turned back on, but he has once again politely refused, citing his need to be there for his cats to feed them etc., etc. He is so kind and giving, I'm just worried what this extended period of having to go without any heat or electricity will do to him, as he will be 90 years of age this coming April.

48f but clear and calm. At least with no wind it does not feel so cold. This global warming is a bugger.

Steve. You really are going through it at the moment. I bet you were disappointed that the marathon was cancelled. They could have run around giving out food and water, instead of the other way around.

Cold again at 48f but clear, bright and still. Frost last night. Early in the year for it. Maybe we will not get it in January

Slightly warmer at 49f !!!!!!!! but at least it is bright and sunny at the moment. One of those clear bright days when you could go for a walk,,,,,if you weren't at work,,,,,and I could walk far.

A fraction warmer at 50f and again bright and clear. This is more like what Autumn should be. Hopefully some gardening this weekend.

Going into the "negative" territory; -4 C for tonight. It's supposed to warm up a bit in a few days though.
