Have been waiting for CD to jump in, not being sure about the musical association to the birth of Venus. Could it be Holst?

Well, I'm torn between a few different interpretations: Adam and Eve, Venus - this is problematical if one thinks of Holst since then there needs to be a planet imho. Daphnis and Chloe came to my mind also - well, thats it for me - I'm stumped. <: - ?

Actually, I guess one could say that it's both. :grin: Respighi made the association long before I did though; the music of his Birth of Venus from the Trittico Botticeliano perfectly depicts her rising out of the ocean. A famous composer wrote a work that could very well inspire the above canvas. I'll give a very good hint: The composer reposed in the 20th cent.
