Right now I am listening to Erkki Melartin's symph. no. 3. He is a little known finnish composer of the early 20th century who I place actually close to Sibelius in appeal. I think if more people were exposed to his symphonies they would be in awe that such accomplished works are not more widely known or performed,I think this is quite unjust. His six symphonies are recorded on the Ondine label by the Tampere Philharmonic conducted by Leonid Grin.Anyone giving these works a hearing I think in large measure would be as highly impressed as I am. Truly little known gems. Please give them a try!

Oooh Muza; that's one of my favs! Bruno Pelletier and Daniel Lavoie singing there; two icons from my neck of the woods...

Here's my fav part of NDDP- Le Temps Des Cathédrales. The rising crescendo always gets me.

Still swimming delightedly in Bach cantatas at present, only got 180 to go ...

Sweet Corn - couldn't you just listen to Bach forever??

Dear CT64,

Oh yes, I could listen to JSBach forever and ever and ever and ever.............

And to think that the Bach Family Tree has its roots in a baker from Hungary named Veit Bach who fled from the oppression of the Roman Catholic Austro-Hungarian Empire and found refuge in a tiny forest hamlet in Thüringerwald because he was a convert to the Lutheran Church.

Those are good ones, Rojo.

That actually is my favourite cast of the NDDP. (I didnt watch all of them, but bits and pieces here and there), and this one just really touches me. I think all the personages are well chosen, and they are definitelly all very charizmatic.

And I like most of it music wise, too, but especially the one I mentioned.
