Thanks, Gord. I'll be sure to give him a listen on you tube.com and get back to you!tubby hayes-the eighth wonder-jasmine cd. hayes is said by many to be britains best jazz artist, i cant argue with that. this is very good hardbop, take a listen to this guy steve. gord
Hi Gord. I didn't realize you had already posted about "Equinox" and where it could be found--absolutely spot on! "One and Four"[ aka Mr Day ] may be found on the cd trane's blues. And I will safely guarantee that if you're into "Equinox"--as you obviously are--Mr Day will knock you out, in the persons of Tyner and Trane. Enjoy! As well, Gord, are you familiar with a song called "Omega" by Jackie Mclean? If you're not, try and get hold of a cd by his quartet named Let Freedom Ring. I tried finding it for you on u tube and last fm.com but was unsuccessful. Please let me know if you can track down this song; I'd really be interested in what you think of it. Look forward to hearing from you again. Cheers--Stevehi steve, glad you liked tubby hayes, i knew you would, he plays in a style i know you favour. he is also a good vibes player. he made a couple of albums with some hardbop allstars in the early 60s in new york, roland kirk and james moody among them. i cant for the life of me remember what they were called, maybe somebody will let me know. i read somewhere they are very good. regarding the coltrane tracks, equinox is on the atlantic album, coltranes sound which just happens to be my favorite trane lp, and i just love that track. i am not too familiar with one and four, but i will be soon. all the best. gord
