Corno Dolce
Thanks for the update on the Woodstock Festival and the city Woodstock. I always thought it was just a stone throw from the city Woodstock, thank you. Now, I am a bit wiser
I clearly remember the interview in the movie with this farmer Yasgur. He must have thought his land had been invated. 300.000 people are a lot of people. I read many years ago that canadian sing and song writer Joni Mitchell, was invited for Woodstock, but the traffic jam to Woodstock made it impossible for her to reach the festival. Joni at one time in the past living together with Graham Nash, former member of the english group The Hollies, before he imigrated to America and became a steady member of the great vocal acoustic guitar group Crosby, Still, Nash & Young (canadian too).
Have you heard, to be back on topic (not realy jazz or maybe it is) Pat Metheny with Joni Mitchelle on "Shadows and Light", Asylum Records 1980 feat. JM (piano, acoustic guitar, vocals), Pat Metheny (guitars), Lyle Mays (piano, keyboards, synthezisers), Michael Brecker (tenor saxophone), Jaco Pastorius (el. fretless bass) and Don Alias (drums, percussion).
That´s a fantastic album with both Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorius. Joni also made an album with Charlie Mingus (double bass, piano) can´t remember the name though.
I know a lot of irish people became police officers and fire fighters, while a lot of italians became the opposite of police men. More into the Mafia and elegal traffic of anything elegal + a "few" murders. They say the Cicily mob invented bribery towards politicians, judges, police chiefs, reporters, public officials etc.etc.
This should however not be generalised to cover all italians or any other nationality. However it was the Lucky Luciano controled mob, who created Las Vegas. Lucky Luciano and Frank Sinatra were born in the same city at Cicily.
