Nat King Cole Trio - Slowdown Nice to hear the man in his early days rather than just the later pop influenced songs. Mind you, with his wonderful voice he could sing a bus timetable and I would still enjoy it.

Louis and Duke - The Great Summit 17 tracks featuring these two musicians. Heaveyweight, but with a beautifully light touch. Whenever I hear Louis play, much as I admire it, I keep waiting to hear him sing. What an expressive voice.

Mike Nock Trio.

I have mentioned this trio before but no one seemed interested perhaps you have not heard of him?? I have added a link to a short track entitled “Doors” Mike is a Kiwi but moved to Aussie to further his career then off to New York to make a living. Any comments on his music would be welcome. NB this is one of his compositions

I listened to that track on my CD last night and the only thing that would approach a humming sound (that I could detect) is the virtuostic playing of the double bass very simular to the bassist in EST, I am just amazed the way the Bass is played to-day

Having seen Basie, Ellington and Herman live on tour within a few months of each other in the mid/late 70s I would definitely agree, they were far more disciplined and together, I would almost say crisp, without losing the swing. I must say though that I was disasppointed to see the venue only just over half full (Winter Gardens, Bournemouth) true it was the early evening concert on a weekday, the second house, I heard, was much nearer full.
