What classical music did you listen to today?

Tosca is one opera I never want to hear again. I've been listening to a Bruckner symphony (not quite as tedious as Tosca, but close).

By the way - it doesn't really matter which Bruckner symphony because, like the Vivaldi Concerti, they are all pretty much identical in structure and sound.

(tongue slightly in cheek)

Today I listened to the underrated string-quartet in A minor written by William Walton and played by the Emerson string quartet

Alexandre Guilmant - Sonate 1 op.42

Ben van Oosten, perchance? :)

Last listened to: March for Band "Godzilla" by Akira Ifukube, played by the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra (don't snicker, it's a grand piece of music...especially if you like marches).

FJ Haydn--Symphonies 6,7,8 Le Matin, Le Midi, Le Soir. Such grand little symphonies showing Haydn's early experimentation and laying his humor and wit right out with very little dressing.

Symphony # 1 by Rachmaninoff

Even though the composer maligned it, I find it a barnstormer of a work...
