Guiseppe Verdi, whatever I can find on youtube (inspired by the previous posts).

I am now listening to Te Deum and the conductor is a woman, which is very interesting to me because I have never actually seen one! :grin:

Mahler - Symphony No.1.Riccardo Chailly conducting Concertgebouworkest.Not as succesful as several other entries in Chailly's Mahler cycle.Abbado's performance of this symphony with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra betters this performance by quite a margin in my humble opinion.

24 Scarlatti's sonatas played at the organ (A.Traeri 1784) by Marco Ruggeri. Beautiful; and Ruggeri is the director of my music school...

Kromme - I have that wonderful Karl Böhm Ring Cycle. He just "got it" don't you think. It's also great because it's one of the quickest Rings on record. At the absolute other end of the spectrum, I also adore Reginald Goodall's English ring, but it's possibly the slowest on record.

I was listening to a Bach Preludium and Fuga played on the brute at St. John the Devine, NY.

Hello Hawk,

Have you ever heard about a Heckelphone? It is one instrument that imvho has a really cool sound. Go to www.lisabergman.com and scroll down to bottom of page and click on the *Arthur Grossman plays Heckelphone* CD. Its just a short clip but it reveals, imvho, a unique sound which I find pleasing.

Cheers,

Corno Dolce :tiphat::tiphat::tiphat::tiphat:

Yes,i know what you are talking about he feels just right.He also shows being a masterful conductor is not about tempo.Boulez is nearly as fast but he is nowhere as great Böhm's intensity is unmatchable.Keilberth's ring shares the top spot with him for me.Goodall...Well after sharing same opinions about Lord of The Rings and Böhm's Ring it was time to disagree,don't you think CT64?..:)

Hi Corno,

Thanks for the link and suggestion to listen. I enjoyed it very much! Is the Hecklephone still widely in use? Based on the image it looks like a double reed - is this true?
