I look back with fondness at the days when I could walk along the pavement unmolested, without some **** barging into me because they were head down texting on their phone.

There always used to be chairs in shops, even small ones. (shops that is). Now that I am an old fart with wonky legs I wish they would bring that practice back.

A slight change of direction if I may mon teddy :)

I have been watching a TV series "Britain from above" and "World from above I am puzzled as to how it is done the final result on the screen is first rate in the credits they mention ‘Nasa satellite imaging’ but this (TV) must be an offshoot as the detail would be impossible from satellite also much too smooth for Helicopters so has anyone seen this series and any ideas on how it is done ? I thought they could be shooting it from a Balloon but that would be uncontrollable?? I should add that on one occasion the shadow of a copter was seen but this was from low down.

In my local chemist they have four chairs for people to sit on.

Have not seen that Colin. I will try Google. Any idea when it was made? (A good clue will be the inclusion of wind turbines)

I will check the credits next time but it is on Sky BBC Knowledge, I think, it must be relatively up to date I would guess a couple of years old at the max and the wind turbines are shown

For those who do not listen to the 'Today' programme on Radio 4, this is English humour at its best.

Right at the end of a programme recently, there was a discussion about the obscene cost of entry into Premiership football games – ‘the cheapest price of £60 and £100 per game is not uncommon’.

An older chap being interviewed said he could recall many years ago arriving at the turnstiles, (it was probably West Ham United or Queen's Park Rangers), to be told, "That will be 10 Quid Mate".

"What!", the old chap said, "I could get a woman for that!"

The guy on the turnstile retorted, "Not for 45 minutes each way you wouldn't, and a brass band in the Interval!"

As the pips sounded on the hour, the presenter John Humphries, could be heard in the background in stitches.

Do you remember when Christmas used to be celebrated at Christmas? And all the shops were decorated properly about two weeks beforehand. We have had the major shops displaying the odd cardboard cutout for about two weeks now, along with Christmas specials of biscuits, chocolates and lights. But no real effort to make the shops Christmassy. Even these poor efforts will be taken down on Christmas Eve so the sales can begin. The local trade association has been advertising the Winter Event. I refuse to support it until it included the word Christmas, same as I will only buy CHRISTMAS CARDS. I send them to my friends and clients irrespective of their race or religion, because I am wishing them something nice. Ops, am I starting to sound like Mike. :D

I certainly do! Do you remember when we were allowed to sing Christmas Carols at a holiday concert and not offend people? My administration has informed me I can only play one or two Christmas Carols at the holiday concert this year due to "complaints from some of the parents". Well being the smarta*** that I am, I've got a solution to that! He said one or two "songs" right? Well if they're arranged into one song... I'm not even Christian and singing/playing carols at Christmas time is one my favourite things about the season.
