The temps fluctuate wildly from day to day - Currently partly cloudy and breezy @ -19 C. Our acquaintance who lives in Yakutsk which is 6 hours ENE by jet from Moscow experienced a weeks worth of -55 C daytime and night-time temperatures. That kind of raw bone-breaking chill keeps the riff-raff at bay - Oh yes, the chill here in Moscow "harvested" 128 souls in January. If one falls asleep, unprotected, outside in -30 C temperature for more than an hour, its all over then........
High today -10C with quite a wind chill. Ice everywhere though - makes for very risky walking. Probably less than a foot of snow on the ground. (Well covered with a strong ice crust). So far it's been a strange winter. ATB!
