Lars it is wonderful. I wish I had some pictures but I do not own a camera. I've been looking at some 35 dslr 's ~ haven't saved enough pennies yet :)

It's 52°F and the rain continues here :))I love this weather:), btw) and could bring some snow later tonight.
Snow in Tucson (high desert) is rare, and doesn't last but a few hours after touching ground. When it does snow (the last time was 20 years ago or so) people with cameras come out of the woodwork snapping photos. I've got my camera ready, too.

It's been pretty snowy for the past two weeks (poeple had serious problems driving their cars out of parking lots). There's still lots of snow on the ground and the temps went down to -15*C (5*F) today. It is said that the temps will go down to -30*C (-22*F) across the country during the next week, which is not a typical situation.

Looks like I'll have to dust off my hip flask and carry it around in my coat to keep myself warm

Its interesting to hear of the wide weather differences experienced by Forum members.
Here in NE England we have had probably the worst winter (over Xmas and into Jan) since the 1940s.
Ok as I write but snow forecast for tonight (24th Jan).
If this is global warming they can keep it. (Mind , I am not a believer)

Nice and sunny here on the south coast today OD.

I would agree this has been worse than usual even down here, last time I saw it worse here was late 70's, before that 62/3 but worst I remember was '47

Usually we only get snow that lasts on the ground more than half a day about once in 7 years.

Most years I can leave pelargoniums and similar half hardy plants out through the winter.

Just to think, this time last year my neck of the woods suffered a really
bad ice storm. Tonight we are waiting for a slight thunderstorm.

Over here it's FREEZING!! All the mountains around us are just COVERED in snow (and it did snow a bit here, but it was a 'dusting', it made just a very thin layer then melted as soon as the clouds dissipated). But at least it's not as cloudy as it was all last week! xP even though I like rainy weather, especilly in the desert where there's hardly any rain :) But the cold breeze from the mountains is so cold!! It looks like someone got powdered sugar and sifted it on all the mountains here xP It's good to think now that in the spring the washes and rivers with be flowing so much from all the melted snow!

Fun weather indeed. Yesterday the low temp was -8, then it started to rise and is now +6 and still climbing. Lots of rain with this system - I think it's the same one that passed by you, Judy. The driveway and path to my retreat is as slick as a bobsled run... Eeeeeek!

Last night we had some (down east for intense) storm. Torrential rain being blown sideways by steady 40 mph winds with gusts close to 70mph. Literally one could feel the house shaking. The temps were very mild, as you might expect when it is raining here in Maine in january, close to 40 degrees farenheit. Power lines as well as trees and branches fell and most of the 2 feet of snow is gone.

Today similar weather minus the wind. As I was traveling my eyes were looking for crocuses even though they won't be above ground til late March...

Right now I'm getting ready for another big ice storm. You might be
without me for a while again. This thing stretches from I think New
Mexico to Western part of Kentucky and breathing down our necks.
The temps right now is 25 degrees.

Showers and sun here, if the temperature was up another 10C/18F it could almost be April.

Judy, sounds like time for you to take a week or two in Hawaii, or some other tropical resort.

January thaw over

Now we are back to the deep freeze here in Montreal. -17C, and a windchill of -30C... Brrrrr. But the days ARE getting longer. In spite of the thaw, and a geeral lack of new snow - there is still a good snow cover on the ground.

Kind of chilly tonight~presently it's about 5 degrees farenheit and will probably drop to about -0-
It's bright with a close to full moon and the snow reflecting the light. Almost no wind. All in all a spectacular Maine winter night! :)

Yikes! My neck of the woods is under another another weather watch.
More snow!:nut::bawl: I wished it would warm up for a while. I'm tired
of it snowing and icing up. I'm ready for some springtime weather.
