I am serious! I have just started to do a family tree but the records are so inaccurate I shall give it a fail mark, I was on a two week free trial then you switch to a 12 month subscription for about NZ$200.

My uncle embarked on this project some years ago. As well as the usual sources he got permission th use the Mormons computer at Saltlake City. He said it was invaluable because everytime a new member joins they log all their ancestors. We found a Welsh connection going back to 17 something

Using Ancestry UK seems to be quite expensive Say NZ$200/annum then if you request a cert which is a must to get all of the details then a further $40 to 50 per cert so you would have to be very dedicated my little venture was curiosity only.
For some reason I knew about zilch of my paternal grand parents they were never mentioned but I have at least found out the basics now my maternal grand parents who I lived with during the war were an open book but proved very difficult to trace through this Ancestry crowd.

I forget which site I used tracing my lot, but I didn't need to download certs, the option was there, but all I wanted was the date and names which were listed.

The problem that I have found is that on "e" birth certs the parents are only given on some so it is a mammoth job to sort through the files that could be the one you want as these have been transcribed from the originals by Ancestry staff and contain mistakes plus omissions.

This reminds me that I have a box full of family photos. Most of them I recognise but my maternal grandmother had twelve siblings and there are photos of my great grandparents which I have no knowledge of. Unfortunately anyone who might be able to name them is long dead. Gives one a sad feeling.

Going to the site that you mentioned led me to others but the free ones are no good I will have to hold on for a while :smirk:
teddy I have been scanning a lot of old B&W pics and they turn out OK if you use the edit/fix feature in 'Windows photo gallery'

This is a pic from c.1964 in NZ (our first picnic in NZ) the print size was approx 2 x 2.5 inches I can blow it up to fit my PC monitor 24 inch and it looks just as sharp as a digital.
