John Rutter (b. 1945)

Has anyone else done his Te deum or Requiem ? As an organist/accompanist I've found both of those quite inspiring.

Rojo, it's ok ... seems like these n's and e's occur frequently ... like in the next entry I offer here:

T. Tertius Noble (1867-1953) English born composer

Well, we've had d'Indy before - it was  rob's own entry
I vote that we accept it anyway ... I'm amazed that this thread has so many entries with very few repeats ;)

Akiro Yashiro (1926-1976)
Composed for the Flute accompanied by Piano

No harm done; I think we`ll have to have some repeats now and then anyway, to keep the game going...

Max Reger (1873-1916) I am surprised this name hasn't come up yet.

My most favorite composition is his Benedictus for organ. He also wrote Chamber, Instrumental, Piano, and Vocal music.

Robmcw: What is the instrument you are playing on your profile page? I don't think I've seen something like this before.

Karol Rathaus (1895-1954)

The instrument in question is called the Chapman Stick.
Its a ten string instrument using a "tap and hold' technique. There are 5 strings on the melody or guitar
side, and 5 strings on the bass side. The bass side is tuned in 5ths. to make it easy to play bass lines and chords at the same time. The guitar side is tuned in 4ths. like a regular guitar. The stereo pickup enables
the player to plug the guitar side into a guitar amp,
and the bass side into a bass amp. A very full sound.
More on the instrument can be seen at stick.com.

Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672)

Robmcw, Thanks for the info on the Chapman Stick. A bassist in our church praise band has heard of this instrument but has not seen one. Wikipedia has a good amount of details, too - quite interesting - thanks for sharing.
