Richard Yardumian

was born in America of Armenian parents and this heritage was to colour his musical output. Largely self-taught, the folk-songs that his parents would sing at home made a great impact on the composer as a child.

I think I might've heard a requiem of his once.

PS: Of course, Dvorak came to mind first, but he must have been mentionned before.

:banghead: another "n" :smash: I'm going :nut:'s with "n's" :banghead:

Ok ... here's one that doesn't end in an 'n': Hyo-=shin Na (b. 1959) South Korea. A prominent Asian female composer.

Hi Krummhorn, I feel now myself deeply sorry about that. NO MORE N's,it's promised; just GO ON STRIKE IF SOMEONE ELSE POSTS ANOTHER EMERSON OR NIELSEN!!!

Well then... Eduard Artemyev ( not sure about the spelling - more important is, that his name HAS GOT NOT A SINGLE N - even in the middle of it !!!! You can relax now !!!!! ).

This is a modern Russian composer, who lives presently as I believe in the U.S. and has written a whole lot of New Age music ... You may have heard, for example, his soundtrack for ODYSSEY.

Toshi Ichiyanagi

(And Per NØRGÅRD has been mentioned three times, already. Not that he doesn't deserve it or anything... Notice how evilly Ichiyanagi ends with another "i." Tee hee.)

 Now that`s just cruel. I`m counting on you to follow your own post with the next composer; I got nothing for ''i''...

Crueler than I thought. I searched my collection for some time. (Do you have any idea how many H's and J's there are?) Then I went online, not to cheat, just to see if I could find anyone I was forgetting. Came up with Andrew Imbrie. If he's not been mentioned, yet, the next letter is E. If he has, then I have to settle for Akemi Ishijima, whom I don't know, but who has a piece on one of the cds I own. Pfffft.

Now if we could use group names, like IDLH or Incapacitants....

Good catch, some guy ... ... Imbrie has not been mentioned yet.
Btw, anyone can search the thread - at the top of the page is a button "Search This Thread", a pull down appears, type the word (name) and hit "Go".

So, on to "F" and promising not :shake: to end in another "n":
Thomas Ford (1580-1648) English born Lutenist and composer.

Here's how the game began:

Anyone for a game?

I`ll start by posting the name of a composer. Then another person posts a composer whose name starts with the last letter of the name I posted. Composer last names only.

With F? There is Franck!

Bzzzzt ... actually we are still on the letter "E" ... a composer last name that begins with the letter "E" that hasn't yet been used (as much as possible) yet.

The "E" submission:

Jane Ellen (b. 1956) American composer of choral, chamber and keyboard works.

(oh crap ... it ends in "N" ... sorry everyone :bawl:)
