On the serious/sacred side:
(1) Angels we have heard on high. That one's so much fun to play on the Christmas Eve mass...I love to play the verses with a heavy marcato, then into the legato sequences of the refrain...gorgeous stuff!
(2) Joy to the World. Hard to go wrong with Handel.
(3) O Holy Night. Very moving when done well.
There are plenty of honorable mentions of course.
On the secular side:
(1) by a long shot...Sleigh Ride. Infectious and great fun to play.
(2) Jingle Bell Rock.
(3) Oh, fine, Grandma got run over by a reindeer. Irreverent fun, particularly the "incriminating Claus marks on her back."
Honorable mention? You know, as stupid as this sounds, I've always thought the Whos' opening song from How the Grinch Stole Christmas is kind of catchy, a bit saccharine, but well-meaning.
The one that I truly despise, nay, loathe...The Twelve Days of Christmas. By the tenth verse....DAAH dah dah Dah dah DAAH dah dah Dah dah DAAH dah dah Dah dah...and still two to go! Lord Jesus, just smash me with a sledgehammer.... :banghead: and then I need a stiff :alc:

I like a christmas carol called How Great our Joy which I wonder if
Krommhorn knows it. I like all of the church christmas songs like
All come all ye faithful to Silent Night. I like How Great our joy
because it sounds more like classical music than a church hymn.
For carols outside of the hymnbook and church, I like Here comes
Santa Claus, Rudalph the rednosed raindear,and my most favorite
which Kenny Rodgers did called Another Kentucky Christmas.
The one I can't stand is drummer boy and 12 days of Christmas.
All of the department stores from Kmart to Walmart drive you
nuts with 12 days of christmas. There is one more favorite and
that one is the complete Nutcracker by Tckasky. Sorry I can't
spell his name too good. But I just love Waltz of the Flowers
in it.

I recall singing this as a youth in choir for the school Christmas programs and later in college a'capella choir.
There is another version of 12 days of Christmas that I've done with a soloist at church for some of our "secular" festivities. At those same venues we do Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer - both are always a real hoot and enjoyed. I'll have to search for the 12 days words.
"Rudolph" - Yay!! I have played that (and others like it) sometimes as part of my Christmas Eve prelude in church. Yes - it's true - So far I have escaped ex-communication from the Lutheran church. Well, I have a very fortunate position - and a congregation (and pastor) with a great sense of humor. But, when it comes to getting in the "high church" mode, I am most reverent and take the liturgies seriously.

Call me crazy but I sing christmas carols in the summer to cool me off
when I'm trying to sleep while I sweat it out. I lost I think at least
ten pounds of sweat last summer when it was 105 outside. But, I needed
to lose the weight anyway.
