CD... i would NEVER ( to quote Brabo ) say such a thing! voices are voices :) there has to be lots of different tessitures, octaves, etc. can you simply imagine a world that is inhabited ony by people <hosound like mice? :D

for those who like baritone and very high put together, and most of all for those who like dutch hippie looking musicians, i recommand Focus. The group was founded and led by Tys Van Leer, an incredible artist who masters flute, organ and all sorts of keyboards, and sings very well. At least he used to in the seventies. Among others, he had excellent (and very nice person) guitarist Philippe Catherine playing in his band.

Aloha sunwaiter,

I was being just a tiny bit facetious  By now, MIMF knows you as a thoughtful *mensch* who is very circumspect and honourable in his words and deeds. You da man!

Cheerio,

Aloha sunwaiter,

I'm glad to have been or service to you. Sorabji has written some of the most extreme piano works around - even three organ symphonies! It is music quite unlike anyother.

Back on topic: At the moment: *Gulistan* by Sorabji.

Cheerio,

CD :):):)

Miroslav Vitous, at the time a resident in America, however born in the Czech Republic, on his album "Journey´s End", released by the ECM Records 1983.

This album from Miroslav Vitous (former bassist with the original electric jazz group Weather Report and before that a member of the Miles Davis electric bands in the late 1960´s) was the second release of an album with the same group of European musicians.

The musicians:

Miroslav Vitous - double bass
John Surman - soprano and baritone saxophone, bass clarinet
John Taylor - piano
Jon Christensen - drums

Miroslav Vitous left the USA after recorded the album "Star", also by the ECM Records (1991) to go back to his mother country and concentrate mostly for a 10 years period in teaching, which lasted until 2002, where he gathered some of the musicians he had played with and favoured over the years in the USA on the new album "Universal Syncopations", released by the ECM Records 2003.

The american tenor, alto and soprano saxophone player Joshua Redman, the son of the late Dewey Redman (tenor saxophone) on his remarkable album "Timeless Tales (for changing times)", released by Warner Bros. 1998.

The musicians:

Joshua Redman - tenor, alto and soprano saxophone
Brad Mehldau - piano
Larry Grenadier - double bass
Brian Blade - drums

Not that many saxophone players throughout the world master all three types of saxophones, like Joshua Redman. I know Chris Potter too plays all three.

Do any of you guys know of other saxophone players, whith the same talent?
