Al Di Meola has always had many strings to play on. This album is the evidence of one of the very best acoustic/electric guitarists in the world for the past 30 years. Discovered by Chick Corea in a small Hispanich restaurent performing, while people were eating, on an acoustic classical guitar.

My absolutely favourite of all the improvised piano concerts by Keith Jarrett, is the five double album "The Sun Bear Concerts", by the ECM Records 1976.

These recordings were made on a concert tour to the cities of Nagoya - Osaka - Sapparo - Kyoto - Tokyo, Japan. I first had the vinyl edition with 10 vinyl records, including the three tunes of the encore. Of course now I have them too on CD´s and to fill the concept on casette tapes as well (before the invention of the CD´s) to to make sure, if I would suddenly lose one of the others.

My favourite is the Osaka Concert, total playing time 67:42 - Part 1, 38:53 If you really enjoy improvised piano by a master of the jazz piano, this album is it - IMHO.

Keith Jarrett on Part 1 plays very melodicly in harmonies romancing almost, unlike the Part 2, where he unvoluntarely demonstrates, what happens when the inspiration sitting behind the keys of the piano in a live concert, with thousands of delightful audience, suddenly has gone. But also how, he retrieves the inspiration during a concert.

Keith Jarrett once said: The music comes to me through my fingers, I am only the instrument of the spirit.

Due to my post about the album "The Sun Bear Concerts" by Keith Jarrett, which did not become the best selling album ever by this incredible American pianist, obviously for economical reasons with any one, who purchased these five concerts recorded in Japan.

Instead the best selling album by the ECM Records at all throughout 35 years of beautiful recordings with various musicians in different groups in what became known as "The European Sound", provided by the ECM Records and producer Manfred Eicher - the improvised solo piano concert the "Køln Concert" recorded January 24, 1975 by Keith Jarrett stands out 33 years later to be the most popular album of all the Keith Jarrett improvised solo piano concerts in his career among the hundreds of thousands of fans world wide.

The number two best selling album ever from the caring hands of the ECM Records, done by another American, Pat Metheny Group on his double live album "Travels", ECM Records 1983. Pat Metheny btw. the only known musician to me, who has dared to record the beautiful "My Song", by Keith Jarrett on Pat´s own solo album playing the acoustic baritone guitar on the album "One Quiet Night", from Metheny Group Productions 2003.

The album and the song "My Song" was originally recorded by Keith Jarrett´s, The Scandinavian Quartet, ECM Records 1978.

Frightening is it not, I have not been able in my entire life with jazz music to attend neither a Pat Metheny nor a Keith Jarrett concert and yet these two geniuses in jazz on each their own instrument to me are the "top of the pops".

Are you talking about the late Bill Evans, who played the piano or the younger Bill Evans playing saxophones?

Either way - good choices in jazz.

The older, the late Bill Evans made some remarkable trio recordings featuring Scott LaFaro (double bass) and Paul Motian (drums) on the album "Waltz for Debby" or another trio feat. Gary Peacock/Paul Motian, for instance on "More From The Vanguard" even the album "Live in Europe" with Scott LaFaro and the Danish drummer Alex Riel.

The younger Bill Evans still rockin´ on the albums "Touch" and "Live".
