Hi again Deeru Piotr

This white Danish afternoon the jazz is: Thelonius Monk on his album "Straight, No Chaser" a classical jazz standard album, released by Columbia Records 1967 (recorded late in 1966).

The musicians:

TM (piano), John Coltrane/Charlie Rouse/Johnny Griffin (tenor saxophone), Ray Copeland (trumpet), Phil Woods (alto saxophone), Jimmy Cleveland (trombone), Larry Gales or Willbur Ware (double bass), and Ben Riley or Shadow Wilson (drums).

Hi, intet-at-tabe, two Monk albums with the same name?

Now listening to Pat Martino the return with Steve LaSpina and Joey Baron, this was the first album Pat Martino did after recovering from a brain surgery which made him lose completely the memory and thus the capacity to play, he had to relearn how to play guitar and this album was the first public appearance, if I'm not wrong
An amazing live record by a true genius!

Miles Davis on his album "Bag´s Groove", Prestige Records 1954, rereleased by Fantasy Records 1987, remast. 1992.

The musicians:

MD (trumpet), Sonny Rollins (tenor saxophone), Thelonius Monk or Horace Silver (piano), Milt Jackson (vibes), Percy Heath (double bass) and Kenny Clarke (drums).

The sound was not good in those mono-days back in the 1950´s, when anyone could walk in a recording studio and have you music cut on a single in no time. But the sound is not the important theme here, the music is and of course one of the very early musical connections between Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins. A meeting they both profitted from.

Thank you for the compelling complements, dear sir Corno Dolce.

Once in a while you just need new inspiration - like new clothes or new surroundings, and since our regular sponsor to this great thread, Mat is a fan of lightnings, I seached by Google to a site for lightnings and Woops", I found this one.

I have to disappoint you though compadre, I never thought about the Kremlin looking at the image, you did of course. I just thought the image looked great, having the lightning breaking the darkness of the night right on top of what looks to be a castle.

Play it again Sam, some smooth jazz on this tuesday morning while the Easter snow seems to have invaded the entire country, not willing to leave us.

Sonny Rollins on his live album "Without A Song", Milestone Records 2001.

The musicians are all well known SR musicians, except for the Perry Wilson and Kimati Dinizulu:

SR (tenor saxophone), Clifton Anderson (trombone), Stephen Scott (piano). Bob Cranshaw (el. bass), Perry Wilson (drums) and Kimati Dinizulu (percussion).

Hi Intet,

You do not want to be under this cloud for any reason:

Say your prayers if you're out in the flatlands of Kansas or Texas and this cloud comes over you :eek::eek:

You can be struck by lightning or sucked up by a funnel quicker than you can bat an eyelash.

Cheers,

CD :crazy::crazy::crazy:

Back at ya Corno Dolce :tiphat:

That´s why I call you my mentor. Your prudent warning, agreed to. You´re absolutely right, I can confirm. ;)

In such a situation with a most likely killer-cloud, darker and more threatening than a night without stars, knowing you can´t out run your destiny, only one secure thing to do. Resurrection time with the Lord praying for absolution on all my sins. Or perhaps what the Standard Trio would do in a similar situation in Kansas or Texas.

That´s one of the things, I am most jealous about regarding catholics. They go every Sunday to the church and are given absolution. Two or three hail Mary´s a lit candle light is the usual punishment. But then Monday is a new week and then they go to church again on Sunday and so on and so forth. Very convienient religion.

On topic:

Keith and the guys would play: "Bye, Bye Blackbird"

Let´s play the whole album "Bye, Bye Blackbird" by the Standards Trio, released by ECM Records in 1993.

KJ (piano), GP (double bass) amd JD (drums) - should any of you guys have forgotten :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D.

Let´s not forget the song "For Miles" on this album post the departure of Miles Davis. The song 18:39 minutes is the common work by all three musicians in honor of Miles Davis, from whom they all learned how to improvise.
