Hi Fretless,

You listened to *Combat De La Mort Et De La Vie* of Olivier Messiaen? As an organ piece it challenges both the player and the listener.

Cheers,

Corno Dolce

Hi Corno,

I did--I've been "auditioning" Messiaen's organ stuff, what I can find in the libraries, because I've been intrigued by the Complete Organ Works disc set on Amazon. I love his orchestral music and Vingt Regards.

Goldmark's first v.c. (one of my all time favorites) by
Milstein-Dorati.
Mendelssohn's last SQ op.80 by the Melos SQ
Islamey by Simon Barer (incredible!)

Hello Fretless,

If you're interested in Vingt Regards then check this video out:

Today I listened to the complete Vingt Regards by Messiaen.

Cheers,

Corno Dolce

That's quite an act of stamina to get through the entire piece. I need to do that again soon. Thanks for the link--I've only seen some the Muraro segments of the piece. This one had interesting lighting to go along with the playing. The tempo is sligthly faster than the Hakon Austbo version I have, which is fine with me.
