Your Song
Hey thats a cool excerpt you have there.
Thats the kind of stuff I want to learn how to write. Meaning modern kind of music that is harmonious rather than dissonant such as alot of todays modern composers.
I'm studying music at uni and we are getting right into modern music there. Alot of it seems to be so thought intense that it takes the focus off the music itself. It seems to be a musical distraction the same way that pop music is saturated with images promoting its performers as heroes.
The kind of stuff you're writing I don't believe has alot of musical distractions. Its the kind of music that can be enjoyed without involving yourself in the social culture of composition, philosophy or the worshiping of musicians(who in pop music are often inferior musicians anyway).
When the focus of music is put on the wrong things then people listen to the music for the wrong reasons, eg to feel smart or superior, or to have a hero to worship.
I think its possible that people enjoy good music instinctively. For example no matter what culture you're in an octave or perfect 5th has the illusion of consonance. Whether its human instinct or a physical vibration that the brain is attracted to I don't know, but I think music that surpasses culture and social scenes can be appreciated by anyone else who chooses to surpass their culture and social scene. I think alot of film scores do this because they are designed to move a persons emotions, rather than appeal to their social thought patterns.
Anyway. Cool music. I like most of it, the pizz at the start of the excerpt is cool, I especially like the quiet bits. Nice and relaxing.
