Let me go in two directions here-
1) Songs mentioned by others that reminded me of some yet unmentioned:
a) 'Loch Lomond' (reminded me of) 'Mull of Kintyre' (Paul McCartney/Wings)
b) 'Streets of Laredo' (rmo) (Down in the West Texas Town of) 'El Paso' (Marty Robbins)
c) 'April in Paris' (rmo) Arrevederci Roma
d) 'Midnight in Moscow' (rmo) 'Suburbs of Moscow' (Kim Wilde)
2) Songs with names of US states in their titles- other than the obvious ones like official state songs & college fight songs.
a) North to Alaska (Johnny Horton)
b) Alabama Song (Weill/Brecht)
c) Florida Room (Donald Fagen)
d) Arkansas Traveller (NOT the official state song- if you're an American, you might not know the title- but you probably know the tune!

Tennessee Waltz? Why didn't I think of that? I played it so many times.
Learning to waltz and hoe-down was what I learned in my first country bands.
Maybe I spent too much time trying to think of a song that had Ozarks in the title.
That's something even other musicians get off on, about me,
and that's remembering another song that has the same chords.
Some song-writers hit me up, asking if it reminds me of anything.
So I won't type to that.... or skype at it.... except to say...
not everything under the sun has come out yet, especially music.

I've been trying to think of more, but why, why, didn't I think of John Coltranes' "Alabama"?
That piece, and "After the Rain", are my two favorite John Coltranes'.
Like Sheryl Crow sang, I too, "derailed my own train with Coltrane".
