One Random Fact About You

I am flying to San Francisco next Saturday, on 14/02/2009 and will spend a week there. Does anybody have any advice for me, which places are worth to visit there ? All I know about San Fran are Alcatraz and fish market:)

Hope you have a great time in San Francisco, Andrew !!!

I was in the USA for several months last year. San Francisco sounds great. Not that you're going for study but I've been told the S.F. Music Conservatory Library is remarkable.

The Bothin Library
1201 Ortega Street
San Francisco 940122

Hi Andrew ;)

How nice - are you coming for work or to visit someone? I would offer to give you a tour, but I'm kind of stuck at home without a car and with a little one ;).

Places to visit.... of the top of my head
1. Wisherman's Wharf (Ripley's believe it or not is pretty cool)
Downtown/Union Square/China Town/ North Beach
Japan Town, Geary Street (
2. Alcatraz
3. Lambard street
4. Sausalito (if weather permits, you can take a ferry from the Fisherman's Wharf. If taking a car, stop by the Golden Gate View Point on the way)
5. Height Street
6. Ride a cable car ;) (board at Downtown Powell St)
7. In East Bay - Berkeley Campus, Telegraph St /Jack London Square
8. Golden Gate Park (Japanese garden, botanical garden, museems)
9. Palace of fine Arts/Exploratorium
10. Civic Center
11. In Palo Alto - Stanford University

I'll think of more places

P.S. Andrew, do keep in mind that February is a rain month in Bay Area, so don't expect it to be warm (well, coming from Germany it probably will be quite warm for you though) and be prepared for some heavy raining!!!! Bring some good shoes, coat and umbrella if you are going to do a lot of sight seing. ;););)

Hi Muza, Robert and Corno Dolce!!

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICES!!!

Now I am beginning to study all those place in Internet...Feel myself already like I spent the half of my life in San Fran due the massive amount of information I am getting from www:):):)

Muza, thanks a lot for your tour proposal , really very nice of you! A small one is of course a great and wonderful reason for staying at home, congrats! Still, if you will have an interest / opportunity for a cup of coffee somewhere outside, just let me know, would be great! ( Is there any chance to get a cup and not a MUG of coffee in US? )

I will now copy your list of sightseeings and will begin to work on my trip...:) BTW, a MySpace friend of mine gave me a funny advice concerning SF - don't wear a tight pants there ( because of the gay community )...So my travelling list must look like - waterproof shoes...umbrella...coat...WIDE pants. Right;)?

Hey Andrew,

Did you take care of your visa? I remeber you once said on another thread you had problems with that.

Hope everything turns out ok.

Have a wonderful trip:).

Cheers

Thank you Mat!!

It is the very same visa we needed for our trip in January - THIS ..... VISA CAME TOO LATE!!!! Almost three months processing time was not enough. So, it had to be there up to the end of Dec. 2008 - and it was issued on 10/01/2009!

Well, now as we have it anyway, why not use this opportunity ( Julia has her conference in San Fran ). If you once would want to visit US, don't forget it, to apply for the visa earlier than three months before your departure date!

Maybe their new cool and friendly looking Pres. will change the things, I don't know. For now, the procedure is as crazy as it only can be.

Are you still planning to go to Frankfurt Music Fair this year?

( Just to stay on the topic of the thead - a random fact about me -
I am going to FMF in April!! ):)

Hey Andrew,

How wonderful. A trip to San Francisco. I bet you'll have a great time.
Give my best wishes to our dear Muza when you see her;).

As for the FMF... Well, I want to go, really. But first, it turned out that *public visitors* are allowed only on the last day (out of 4). So, I'd be going only for one day. That's fine with me. But man, the tickets' prices (and I'm not talking about the FMF) are so high!! It's so expensive to get from Poland to Frankfurt, Germany:mad:. I don't know what to do.

I went to Anne-Sophie Mutter concert. She played Beethoven's concerto in D major. The orchestra was conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki. Truly remarkable experience. Standing in a long line for a ticket totally paid off.

A thread where you can post random things 'bout you. Can be extremely important or totally trivial. Funny or scary. It's up to you:). Forgive me if thread like this already exists. Okay, I'll start.

Since my last entry, where I was all polite as a great Danish viking, I´ll say, I am non-predictable in every sence of the word.

I take any offer of exploring on whatever incident in whatever country or anything at all that has my interest no matter the possible costs and risks.

Having spent 6 weeks in Southern Iraq partly on the back of a camel recently, a country in chaos and a civil war with 144 tribes of warmongering arabian speaking people beside the official armies of Iraq, Al Queda and from the invading country, the most sufficient military power on planet earth the USA, where one human being in Iraq does not have more value, than a bottle of counterfit whiskey offered to you on the Saturday market.

I would go again having a new chance.

And yet every day life goes on in Iraq, as if nothing has happened....

I finally finished a prayer shawl and it looks like a native american
