Margaret, that kitty in the vid is Sooooo happy and contented. Very nice editing as well. Cat's can find the "interesting" in the most simplistic things, they have it made in the shade and most of them wrap us around their little paws. Of course, it's only right as in a cat's mind ALL THINGS BELONG TO CATS.

Lucklily for we cat lovers and owners, they ALLOW us to share their possessions.

Thanks for posting the clip, Margaret. To the innocent observer she's having a lovely time chilling out but, in reality, it's all about communing with the mothership and receiving instructions about taking over the world. Oh, that's right, cats have already done that!

I agree with you about possessions, Stephen. My two received a great toy for Christmas, a bendy tube with a ball inside and holes in the top to enable them to stick their paws in and make the ball roll around. While they will "share" it with me, Sam likes to sit on top of it so the ball is his, all his!

Cheers

It's funny to watch them with their possessions Vicki, I know. Ramses has a little plush mousie that he likes to sleep with. He keeps his paw on it all night. Some things he just won't share. The funniest thing, tho, is when he has had enough of our new little guy, Amun, and he just straddles him and plops down on top of him. Amun will squirm a bit and then finally seems to get the message that "down-time" is expected for a while.

I don't think I would enjoy NOT sharing my life with cats.

I agree. I was absolutely miserable when my dear Lucy and Tia died within six months of each other the year before last. It felt so weird not having a furry creature to boss me around.

They are funny when they play. Sam does a similar thing to Rosie. I have, at times, thought he was being a bit rough with her because she was yelling during wrestling matches. However, one day I saw them in action and Rosie was on top doing all the bashing, but making "help me, help me, I'm being spifflicated!" noises.

Aw....

When Ramses (who has gotten rather large) plops on top of Amun, he eventually starts to groom his face and ears. It's really quite sweet. I'm very pleased that both of the older and larger cats have taken so well to Amun and they are very gentle with him.

It's only been 3 or 4 weeks that we have had him but now he shadows the other cats and parrots just about everything they do.

I'm so glad they are getting on. I dare say a lot of the credit for the kindness of your older cats towards Amun would be due to they way they've been treated. I believe that if you bring them up with lots of love and treat them with respect (except when it's an all-in wrestling match, of course!) you end up with cats who are comfortable and confident enough to cope with changes to their environment. Of course, I did smooth the introduction of three-month-old Tia to 12-year-old Lucy with the assistance of radiant heat. It's amazing how chummy they can become on a comfy bed in front of the heater!

So true. And I also believe that they remember that they were once rescued themselves, either from being caged, such as Amun and Catrina, and Ramses who was dangling by his neck when he was 4 or 5 weeks old and left by his mother. We bottle fed him until he regained enough strength to the point he could stand up again without falling over. We then became his surrogate "mothers" and Catrina suddenly became very maternal with him.

I'm slowly adapting them so that Pez (our Min Pin) will allow him to snuggle up with her under the blankets. She whines a bit and then calms down. Basically, they just all want to be accepted into "the pack" and it seems to be working beautifully.

Here's a lovely one.

He is a cutie. But you know what's going to wind up on the floor after munching on those greens...

Time for some "foot care for the owner."
