A plague of mosquitos! There were so many in the room that I had to use a vacuum cleaner. Help!

Thank you ... I happen to live in 'hell' (Tucson, AZ) where just last night it was still 105°F at 9pm. If our heatwave keeps going like this we will finally be able to beat Phoenix (AZ) in something

Sounds like you need to invest in a shop-vac :rolleyes::lol:

 @ Mat ...

Yup ... in summer, we don't use coffee pots here - we just fill up the cup and set it out on the sidewalk. Then, like complete fools, we actually drink it.

105*F? Water boils in 100*C :clap::whistle:

Ah yes, I still remember watching someone frying eggs on the sidewalk during some very hot weather near New York - many, many years ago. Simply touching a strike-anywhere match to the walk would cause it to ignite. Walking to the beach could be torture when we had to cross pavement or dry sand.

Not so today in Montreal. Rain again part of the day. It's been a cool summer. There was even a suspected tornado about 100 k to the north. No one hurt but something like 40 homes damaged. We seldom get the extreme violence from this sort of storm - but they do happen.

ATB!

We had a very intense electrical storm last night. There I was, minding my own business perusing this forum when ... C-R-A-A-A-C-K-K ... and a bright flash of light just a few feet from the house ... I jumped a foot, as did Melvin (one of our two cats) who was resting in his box that sits on top of my desk.

What followed was a very intense thunder/lightening storm ... crack - boom ... constantly for over an hour ... mostly overhead in our area ... A thunderous rain followed for about 30 minutes. Of course, the temperature here in 'hell' never lowered below 101°(f).

Currently 76°(f) @ 07:30, heading for another blast furnace day of over 105°(f).

Lars,

You should provide us some pictures of those famous, spectacular storms you have back there in "hell". I'm beginning to feel jealous of them...

Hot and muggy! That's me sweating after a walk at 80 degrees.
We had a terrorific thunderstorm last night. Sheet rain 75 mph
winds and a porch full of stupid people sitting out in it. I was
inside wondering if the power was going to go off. I had a candle
ready! I'm surprised there wasn't a tornado in it.

I NEVER thought the weather up here would be such that I would suffer from "heat stroke" but for the 3rd time in the past 10 years it happened the other day in the community garden. There I was weeding and as I was bent over pulling out the little unwanted clumps they started "swirling about" and I guess I was hallucinating. I locked up the garden and went home and Joe said that "I wasn't making any sense" as happened at Disney World in August one year and in Mexico one September...but Canada? So now I use sunscreen and drink lots of water when I go to the garden.

Still loving it, though. But I will be happier when the leaves start to change colour.

Well we have had mixed weather here.Today there seems to be some sunshine, on Thursday we had a thunder storm with torrential rain.

Where is the hot summer the weather men said we would have?
