Holidays- Are you going anywhere?

Well, back to reality.

The village this year was very small and quiet, but only two minutes drive from St Pargoire which has plenty of local shops. We had a very quiet location overlooking the countryside, but with plenty of houses near by (but not too near). There was a small shop, a very small bar and a restaurant literally two minutes walk away.

Prices have gone up. A decent Cote de Rhone now costs £1.25.

Good pics teddy you must have a steady hand, how many pixels a double click works wonders.

Well it looks like Wales for me this year and a few rides on some of the narrow gauge railways there. Wife and daughter are off to Italy, which makes the case even stronger. I will take my camera and try and arrange a footplate ride on the Fairbourne Railway which apparently you can do for £20.00. I also want to see the model layout at Towyn attached to the Talyllyn Railway which is entirely steam driven. Ah, second childhoods.

Its all arranged. Drop the family at the airport on the 14th , and then head for Wales. I will try and ride or visit as many NG lines as I can in the four days that I am there (5 nights), before dashing back to the airport to pick them up. Narrow gauge heaven here I come.

Will try to Colin. Thanks for the link Mike but I will probably make do with stills and the limited cam facilities on my camera. Less to carry and worry about while I am hobbling around. I do plan to try and visit Aberystwyth where there is a venuncular railway with a camera obscura at the top. Never actually seen one yet. The only problem is that it is quite a long driver around the estuary from where I will be staying in Barmouth. I will be visiting Fairbourne Railway which is just down the road and have been told you can get a footplate ride for only £20.00. Toot toot

Thanks Nikcan. Did you walk over the famous railway bridge which has a footpath along side the tracks?
