Come on Spring

This is the courtyard I built a couple of years ago, looking out onto the garden and large Magnolia tree.

I built the table out of odds and ends, cost me about £5.00 This is where I like to sit in the Summer, with a glass of red, and point to things that need doing.

Teddy, you either need to invest in a spirit level when erecting walls and arches, or else make sure your camera is level when taking pics. (maybe less red and more water?)

That was the camera angle Mike. Still geting used to digital at the time. Still try and hold the screen up to my eye. I have an old TLR which I have managed to get some 120 roll film for. I want to do protraits of the whole family in black and white.

That's a big drawback of the screen view on compacts, holding a camera at arms length is great for magnifying camera shake and not being able to see what's vertical, they are not a good substitute for the old style eye level view finder which made you hold the camera up close and fairly well braced. I nearly always use a monopod or tripod; when I'm out with the camera it's not in the bag, or round me neck, it's normally on a monopod which also doubles as a walking pole, the tripod only comes into play for close up/macro shots or landscapes when I have the time to get set up properly.

If I go to a folk festival or the Bournemouth Air show, I often take hundreds of shots in a day, the most I remember was at the Air show when I took over 800 one day and 900+ the next. Couldn't do that with film, would cost too much, with digital, once you make the initial outlay that's about it, unless you start buying more lenses and accessories!

When I retire (hahaha) I would like to get back into some serious photography. The sort of things which took time and money in a dark room can now be done so quickly and easily on a computer. One day.........

That is a great table teddy I particularly like the curved top to it, very well done.
I still have a few pre digi cameras but only one digital which is a Nikon coolpix 7600 I had to get something small enough to fit in the Z and it is a good little camera for what I need and a far cry from the old dark room editing even an idiot can finish up with a presentable result. here is a picy of part of my summer project "showing mother nature I am still here" my seat is not as flash as yours.2.3.13 008.jpg

A few too many to post, so here's a link, the first 60 or so and last 20 or so are of my garden and a few roses, plus some shots from the National old rose collection at Mottisfont abbey near Romsey most of my roses are chosen as much for the scent as the looks, the red & white one is right by the front door, and attacks your scent sensors as you enter.

One of my favourite occupations is sitting.

Lovely to have so much space Colin. I have 1/3 of an acre at another property but it is a wilderness at the moment.

Love the roses Mike. We have a few, but not enough.

Great views, gentlemen. Though that bench could use at least some paint, Colin.

Teddy, sitting is great. I'm literally sitting as I'm typing this. Seriously though, I could spend all day sitting in park with a good book and a glass of wine (and knowing my luck - with a ticket for drinking in public as well) :D

Sounds great! I'm booking a flight for July, then.

Lovely picture Colin. The yellow bush looks like Forsythia. We have a similar one outside our back door. The birds tend to gather there for feeding.
