  1. italian organs?

Anybody here who would like to share about Italian organs? The other night, I listened to a CD of the 1862 De Simoni-Carerra at San Giovanni in Bellagio, Italy. It's a complete 2-manual and includes a 16' Bombardo and 8' Tromba in the Pedal. The Principale, together with the Voce Umana...
  2. organ at the duomo, milano

Can't seem to find a history on the huge Tamburini/Mascioni at the Milano Duomo. Anything on stoplists "through the centuries", that type of thing? Another thing of interest would be something on the rearrangement of the organ back in the 1980s.
  3. St. Denis C-C

Does anybody have any photos of the interior of the 1841 Cavaille-Coll in St. Denis? Possibly including photos of the two 32' ranks in the Pedale?
  4. 64' Tromba in Nurnberg?

The large Steinmeyer at St. Lorenz in Nurnberg has a 21 1/3' Quint which they named 64' Tromba. A 21 1/3' added to a 32' produces a 64' tone usually called Resultant, but why call it "Tromba"? Maybe it sounds a little like one in a certain part of the church? <shrug>
  5. Lund Cathedral

Hi people! I've been unable to find a stoplist, anywhere, of the big Marcussen at Lund Cathedral. Could somebody give me a lead? Thanks.
  6. opus numbers stamped on pipes.....

There is this Tuba, on 5", we're trying to figure out the builder of. The resonators are a shiny, smooth, dark metal (could be zinc) and the bells are heavy linen lead. This rank was more than likely made between 1900 and 1920. In addition to the usual info on the pipes, "2528" is on there...
  7. confused about Notre-Dame's chamades

Hi. In the booklet of a CD of the 1867 Cavaille-Coll at Notre-Dame de Paris, the stoplist includes the 1965 Boisseau chamades and the chamades installed in the 1992 enlargement. The other day, I read an article in OHS's Tracker on this instrument. It said that Cochereau-era additions were...
  8. on the labial oboe

A friend of mine, who owns an Estey Labial Oboe, told me that a friend of his jokingly suggested that he find another set to use as a Celeste. When he said this, I thought it was a great idea. One application could be that a Labial Oboe, and its Celeste, could be placed in an Echo division to...
  9. Austin's opus 124

In 1905, Austin installed their Opus 124 at St. Vincent's Archabbey in Beatty, PA. 4 manuals, 52 stops. Anybody know if it still exists, or what's become of it?
  10. national pipe organ register

The National Pipe Organ Register has a website I'm finding myself spending some time with. If you google NPOR, you'll find that this site has a list of small historic organs mostly in southeastern England. I believe all of these have audios of pieces played on them. Among them is the 1821...
  11. weird dreams with organs in them....

Not too long ago, I had a weird dream involving a large old tracker organ. Oddly enough, I can't remember the details right now, but many years ago, I dreamt I was in the Cathedral in Mexico City. Someone was playing an intense and emotional piece by Bach, I think. The tempo was moderate...
  12. some light humor in the organ world....

I found this on youtube.com a couple weeks ago. In the search box, type: first heckelphone "en chamade" in a pipe organ This one struck me so funny, I was falling out of my chair.
  13. rededication of A-S Opus 150B

Who went to the rededication of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine (NYC) this past Sunday? I was there the entire day and it was awesome! The organ looks and sounds much happier now. The Quimby company did an excellent job retaining the organ's character. It's exactly like an old friend...
  14. swieta lipka

Here's a couple questions about another organ in Poland. Mat, you might be able to help with this one, too. I've watched a few clips, on youtube, of the organ at Swieta Lipka. I enjoy the moving statues, especially the moving cluster of tiny bells on the short central tower. Very cute! But...
  15. large organ in Licheń

I found a clip on youtube of the organ at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lichen in Licheniu, Poland. I tried to google it in hopes of finding a stoplist. Does anybody have any leads on one?
