When I think of AC/DC, I think of "classic rock", not necessarily "metal", but that's because I'm into some pretty hardcore stuff. Glad to have ya here!
Well, what exactly do you call hardcore heavy metal I'm not totally in to Heavy Metail as you see above and I only have about 5 - 10 songs of it as I don't really enjoy playing it.
Personally, I have a number of classifications of heavy metal music. Bands that would fall under the classification of "hardcore" would be bands like Pantera. Some other classifications I like to personally use (without getting into detail, or matching examples to them) are:
Speed
Thrash
Death/Dark
Classic
Symphonic
Melodic
Groove
etc.
I love heavy metal all i listen to im in to the relaly hardcore stuff like... Cradle OF Filth, Pantera, Rammstein, Dimmu Borgir, but i do love all metal genres as well anything from Nightwish (what i primarily sing) to Tool. and i definatly agree with those qualifications Jason

I think it's usually considered "hard rock". I don't think anything lighter than Metallica can really be considered "metal". Of course, there are so many different subsets of metal today that classification is becoming a little silly. Just look at this Wiki article...
I much prefer rock music or indie on a day-to-day basis, but like to listen to Heavy Metal when I need cheering up. It's so loud that it can't help but make me smile.
I just listen to music that I like and I'm not really bothered which category that they fall into.
"Classic Rock" is a horrible term used by compilation albums. Heavy Metal started at the end of the Sixties. It's a bit like saying that you don't consider Jerry Lee Lewis to be Rock and Roll because Ozzy Osbourne says it - he flipping was.
I listen to a lot of heavy metal, but how do you define hardcore? Pantera is hardly hardcore.
What about Vardis, Grave Digger, Bolt Thrower, Viking, Sodom & Hellion?!
My range of music, is vast, but all metal!
Bolt Thrower - Coventry band, woo hoo! I made a thread about bands from your home town and didn't really think of Bolt Thrower. It's good to see a Covvy band name checked as hardcore though.
