oh... oh... I was just thinking yeah... junk loop's a nice user name, bein'a little loopy myself,
so I gave Trio Elf a listen, and it's a good thing I did. This was very involving.

I chose this video because it was shorter, in terms of time, it's a live performance and a recent one.
Who really impressed me is the drummer, really good, at times incredible.
I do have some North American criticisms about presentation.
The drummer has a black t-shirt with white lettering, all about profanity.
That's nothing new, but as music intellectuals, first, a t-shirt?, and second, what, profanity?
If this was American, it would reference the Rolling Stones and having sex with teens.

It's nice to see a bassist who isn't facially afraid to express the pain of pushing down those strings.
The pianist is a minimalist, at least here, and I have to say I like his pale turquoise shirt.
At one point, the acoustic piano sounds like it has a phasing effect on it, that doesn't last long.
It might be the recording, or a minimalist use of phasing, it's one or the other.
I wouldn't hesitate to give them another listen, liking live video performances.
However, it was a little disappointing, watching those fingers on the piano,
when the full range of sounds and multiple keyboards an organ has,
and the very desirable fingers of the as-yet-untitled Frederik Magle,
just aren't there.

Hey! Us guys with two four letter words for names have to get sticky together.
I've been back to You Tube to see other performances, and they're never disappointing.

I hope admins and Frederik Magle aren't going to read this, and stay awake at night worrying about it,
but my favorite all-time solo piano performance is McCoy Tyner on his "Echoes of a Friend", album,
playing "Naima", a John Coltrane song using his wifes' name.
That goes back to the late sixties.
I'm just saying that so you know what I mean about non-minimalist piano playing.

If a local music agent was watching this Trio Elf video,
he be saying the pianist should turn around so he's facing the drummer,
so they can make eye contact, something the audience relates to,
also making it better to signal each other.
And being a minimalist pianist only makes me think I could easily play guitar with them.
I always like to think that.
