I just saw the Simpsons Movie last night for the first time (didn't catch it in the cinema, so watched it on DVD instead). I thought it was great fun.
Anyhow, it's got a very fine soundtrack too by Hans Zimmer, and of course the main theme by Danny Elfman, but that got me thinking. Does anyone know whether Danny Elfman was asked to do the entire score, and if so why he didn't do it? And if not, why he wasn't asked. Not that there's anything wrong with Zimmer's score, but it just seemed natural to ask Elfman since he composed the main theme.
Oh, and I think the "Spider Pig, Spider Pig..." song is hilarious, especially the choral version
