As a youth, I never liked Ravel's Bolero ... thought it was too repititious. Now much later in life, I truly appreciate this work - now that I do, the local classical stations seldom play it ... in my youth years they played it almost too much .. wonder why the change by the broadcasters over the years?

Hi,
I'm new to this website and I came across this topic of Ravel - he's one of my favourite composers! Has anyone heard the new recording of piano works by Artur Pizarro??? very impressive and highly recommended. anyone interested in Ravel should have a look at it on his website: http://www.linnrecords.com//recording-the-complete-works-of-ravel-vol--1.aspx
Bye!

Hello  CathMac ... Welcome to MIMF. Interesting site - thanks for sharing with the community.

That is my third fave all-time piece of music. Does anyone know what it is? I find it doesn`t get mentioned all that often; the Bolero is certainly much more well-known. My fave parts are at (according to the backwards counter) 8.40, 8.09-7.02 and 2.20-end. There are two bad cuts, and the beginning is missing, but the performance is very good; good tempi and dynamics. Oddly enough I heard this piece on the radio today, but the performance was too 'weenie.' This is much better.

Sigh, I just love this piece of music... aaaahhh... so lush, so languid at times, yet full of raw passion at others...

I think she's wearing a Easter dress

These are excerpts from Daphnis and Chloe, a work which never ceases to amaze me. Even if this version does not include the female choir in the closing bacchanale, I could still hear them at the end.;)

Hi ON,

Ok, we`ll go with Easter dress. She sure can play, probably no matter what she wears.

Yes, there`s quite a bit missing in the Daphnis video, but what`s there is excellent. I actually find the piece works either way, with or without the choir. Blasphemous, I know.
